Some More Omaha H/L and Big Losses

After just going about the week with a pretty lax attitude towards my poker game, I decided to get serious this weekend. On Saturday, I played for abotu 10 hours straight. I played one long session of .5/1 SH Limit Hold'em and a table of Stud H/L or Omaha, depending on what I was feeling at the time. I ended up about 12 BBs in four hours at Hold'em and up a little in the other games. I then decided to play in another low buy-in (this time $1) Omaha H/L tournament. This one had about 860 players, so first payed $220.

Once again, I played extremely well. As I got deeper and deeper into the tournament, I began to use some of the things I had learned from winning the tournament on Monday. I raised a little more liberally as the stakes got huge, and no one really stood up to me for a long time. At the third break, I was sitting in 4th with about 27 people left. That's when I hit a wall.

Immediately after the break, I lost two hands when shorter stacks were all-in. I couldn't buy a hand after that. I decided to take a chance UTG with a very, very medicore hand, and got completely schooled by the huge stack sitting on my immediate left. Little did I know, he had the dreaded A-A-2-3 double suited in the BB and slow played me to perfection. I went in 15th place, earning a measly $8.50.

On Sunday morning, I decided to play a session of 1/2 Hold'em. I don't know why. In retrospect, it was stupid decision. I finally have a proper BR, and I decide to play above it. I lost about 35 BB, or $70 in three hours. I never really played badly, I just never got the cards. In that entire session, my highest pocket pair was JJ (which was my first hand) and I only saw two hands better than A10 suited. That's poker sometimes.

I'm going to take it easy for a couple days after getting destroyed so badly yesterday. I'm going to only play really small stakes Omaha H/L tournaments and some Stud H/L, as Hold'em seems to be my Achilles' Heel right now.
